Fall sports jamborees get underway today

High schools across the region are gearing up for the fall sports season with jamborees this weekend and into next week.

St. Vincent will host Perryville, Scott City and Potosi in a football jamboree at 6:30 p.m. today, while Jackson is set to take the field for a jamboree at 6 p.m. today at Fox High School in Arnold, Missouri, to compete against Fox, Jennings and Lindbergh.

The Central football team will take on Farmington, Ritenour and Normandy in a jamboree at 7:30 p.m. today at Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro, Missouri, and Kelly is scheduled to begin its jamboree at 6 p.m. today against Hayti, Caruthersville and host Portageville. Fredericktown will host Chaffee, Malden and Charleston in a football jamboree at 6 p.m. today.

The Kelly softball team will take on Naylor and Poplar Bluff in a jamboree at 4 p.m. today in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Chaffee will host Sikeston, Notre Dame and Jackson in a softball jamboree at 9 a.m. Saturday, while Perryville will take on Ste. Genevieve and Fredericktown in a softball jamboree at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Perryville City Park.

The Central softball team is scheduled to face host Hillsboro and Nerinx Hall in a jamboree at 10 a.m. Saturday, and Saxony Lutheran will head to North County for a softball jamboree against Seckman and North County at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The Crusaders' boys soccer team also will compete in a jamboree at North County, which is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Saturday against Maplewood, John F. Kennedy and North County. Perryville will host De Soto and Fredericktown in a boys soccer jamboree at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Jackson gets its volleyball season underway with a jamboree against Oak Ridge, Advance and Bernie at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Jackson, and Saxony will host Poplar Bluff, Sikeston and Bismarck in a volleyball jamboree at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Perryville, St. Vincent and Valle Catholic will take on host Ste. Genevieve in a volleyball jamboree at 5 p.m. Tuesday, while Leopold is slated to host a jamboree against Woodland, Gideon and Bloomfield at 6 p.m. on Aug. 21.
