NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Nick Bruno kicked a 26-yard overtime field goal and Jourdan Wickliffe intercepted Ronald Butler's pass on the ensuing possession, helping Eastern Illinois to a 25-22 overtime victory over Tennessee State on Saturday.
Devin Church finished with 125 yards rushing and two touchdowns for the Panthers (3-3, 3-0 Ohio Valley Conference) and Jalen Whitlow had 120 yards passing with a touchdown, a 62-yard strike to Addison Bounds.
Trailing 19-14 with 10 minutes, 55 seconds left Church raced in from 25 yards out to give Eastern Illinois a 22-19 lead. Tennessee State answered back on the subsequent possession, driving 32 yards on eight plays to set up a career-long 50 yard field goal by Lane Clark which sent the game into overtime.
Butler finished with 125 yards passing and 104 yards rushing with two total TDs for the Tigers (3-3, 0-3 OVC).
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Eli Jenkins passed for two TDs and ran for another and Jacksonville State beat Tennessee Tech.
Jenkins was 18 of 27 for 184 yards, with scoring strikes of 4 yards to Dalton Screws and 30 yards to Troymaine Pope. Jenkins gained 86 yards on 10 carries and put the Gamecocks up 14-3 on a 40-yard run.
JSU (5-1, 3-0 OVC) had 619 yards of total offense, topping the 400-yard mark for a school-record 17th straight game.
Miles Jones scored on a 45-yard run, Jojo Wynn had a 65-yard score and Josh Clemons scored from 3 yards out.
John Arnold kicked field goals of 43 and 29 yards for Tennessee Tech (2-5, 1-3 OVC) and Dorian Carter scored on a 1-yard run.
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -- Jarod Neal had 209 yards passing, and UT-Martin beat winless Austin Peay to clinch the ninth annual Sergeant York Trophy for the second year in a row.
It was the third and final game for UT Martin (4-2, 3-1 OVC) in the quadrangular Sgt. York Trophy series between the four OVC schools located in Tennessee.
Neal's top targets, Rod Wright and Caylon Weathers, accounted for most of passing offense. Wright had five catches for 108 yards and Weathers had seven catches for 78 yards and a touchdown.
Julian Franklin had 16 carries for 102 yards and a touchdown for the Governors (0-7, 0-4 OVC).
