EAST PRAIRIE, Mo — Inspired by the outpouring of support for its recent state championship win, the East Prairie cheerleaders decided to turn the tables and cheer on their community, partnering with the Eagles Closet for a “Seven Days of Spirit” drive.

The result? A heartwarming demonstration of local spirit, with shelves stocked full of ramen, socks, and essentials thanks to the cheerleaders’ tireless efforts.

“We have been given so much,” said East Prairie cheerleader captain Brynlea Ditto. “We have been fundraising to go to nationals and our community has been a blessing and has given us donation after donation. We’re so thankful and we wanted to give back to the community.”

The Sleighful of Kindness campaign brought in a staggering 645 packets of ramen, 305 pairs of socks, and a treasure trove of other essentials, ensuring families won’t face empty cupboards this holiday season.

“We thought that this would be one of the most beneficial ways to say thank you because anyone can go to the Eagles Closet and get food or clothes if they need them,” Ditto said. “It’s getting cold outside and some people don’t have food to eat when they get home from school or they don’t have warm clothes. Hopefully, this can help out some of those in need.”

While this year’s effort has been a remarkable success, the cheerleaders envision an even bigger and better drive next year, aiming to expand their donation list and involve more community members.

“It was a blessing and it gave me, my team and my coaches lots of joy to be able to give back to a community that has given us so much,” Ditto concluded.
