The XFL's inaugural Million Dollar Game tonight will feature a significant local flavor.
Former Southeast Missouri State University star running back Kelvin Anderson has been a key player for the San Francisco Demons.
Anderson was known as "Earthquake" when he came out of New Madrid County Central High School in the early 1990s and he went on to have a record-breaking career at Southeast, setting the school's all-time rushing record that still stands by gaining 3,392 yards in three seasons from 1992 through 1994.
Then it was on to the Canadian Football League for Anderson, who became a perennial CFL all-star for the Calgary Stampeders as he gained more than 1,000 yards during five straight seasons from 1996 through 2000.
And, after joining the XFL's Demons several games into this season, Anderson has put up solid numbers in his second professional league.
Anderson averaged 4.7 yards per carry while rushing for 206 yards as a starter during the last four games of the XFL's inaugural regular season.
Then, during last Saturday's nationally televised 26-25 come-from-behind playoff victory over Orlando that vaulted the Demons into the XFL championship game, Anderson was a workhorse by rushing 18 times for 53 yards and also catching four passes for 54 yards.
