The Scott City football team got a good glimpse of Paris Tipler on Friday night.

The East Prairie running back rushed for 201 yards and scored four touchdowns in the Eagles' 35-15 victory against the winless Rams.

Tipler, who also had an interception on defense, scored on touchdown runs of 69, 57 and 5 yards. He scored his other touchdown on a 68-yard touchdown reception that capped East Prairie's first possession.

His 69-yard run later in the first quarter made the score 14-0.

"We have to start quicker," Scott City coach Terry Flannigan said. "The little things just killed us tonight and we have to work on our tackling."

The Rams closed within a touchdown when Jamie Pinkston hooked up with Derek Goodin for a 9-yard touchdown pass. Scott City faked the extra point and Pinkston passed to Goodin for the two-point conversion.

But East Prairie went ahead 21-8 at halftime and scored again to start the second half when Tipler ran 57 yards on his first carry of the third period.

"We were outmatched talent-wise but we didn't quit," Flannigan said. "We have a problem with speed, and East Prairie has some speed."

Scott City showed some fortitude with a score late in the fourth quarter. Jonathan Barr scored on a 5-yard to make the final score 35-15.

Barr, a senior, led Scott City in rushing with 145 yards on 24 carries. Chris Blankenship had 11 carries for 58 yards.

Pinkston threw for 51 yards with a touchdown pass and an interception. Barr caught four passes for 35 yards.

Barr and Cody Carlyle led the Rams defense with six tackles each. Senior Justin Simmons had the lone sack for the Rams and had four tackles on the night.

Scott City (0-3) returns to action against Brentwood at home on Friday.
