NEW MADRID, Mo. The New Madrid County Central High boys basketball team hit a mid-season lull, but the Eagles appear to be clicking on all cylinders now.
Defending Class 3A state champion New Madrid wrapped up its regular season Friday night by rolling past visiting Notre Dame 70-40. The Eagles are now 16-7 while the Bulldogs fell to 17-7.
Dereke Tipler pumped in a game-high 26 points for the Eagles, who also got 13 points from Ronland Ranson.
No Bulldog scored more than eight points.
The Eagles broke away from a 12-12 tie at the end of one quarter to lead 32-20 at halftime. They increased their advantage to 51-28 entering the final period.

ADVANCE, Mo. -- Advance improved to 18-7 and protected its seeding position for the upcoming district tournament as it won easily over Scott County Central.
Adam Rainey led the Hornets with 19 points, followed by Andrew Jenkins with 11.
Todd Blissett led the Braves with 15 points.
The two teams were tied after the first quarter, but Advance used a 14-4 edge in the second quarter to take a 30-30 lead into halftime.
"We went to man-to-man in the second quarter and held them to four points and protected lead in second half," Advance coach Jim Hall said.

CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Oran erupted to a 34-13 lead by halftime and never looked back.
Adam Friga led Oran (16-7) with 19 points, followed by Ryne Wood with 13.
Perry Rice scored a team-high 13 points for Chaffee.

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Richland's Sherome Cole poured in 37 points to lead the Rebels past the Cardinals.
Woodland (10-12) got 15 points from Chris Masters, 13 from Alex VanGennip and 11 from Jared Houchins.
The Rebels led 28-26 at halftime and then opened up some breathing room with a 24-15 third-quarter edge.

DELTA, Mo. -- By the slimmest of margins, Delta slipped past Leopold.
The Bobcacts (9-12) had three players score 13 points: Lance Kinder, Troy Nussbaum and Joey Keys. Craig Bock added 11.
Leopold (9-12) was paced by Scott VanGennip with 16 points. Ashton James added 14 and Daniel Schaab had 11.
St. Vincent 78
Meadow Heights 61
PATTON, Mo. -- Tyler Wengert scored 18 points and added nine assists to lead four Indians in double figures as St. Vincent (17-6) turned back Meadow Heights.
Mark Gotto added 16 for St. Vincent while Ryan Brown had 13 and Andrew Prost had 10.
Josh Mayfield scored 27 points for Meadow Heights (2-17), but he was the only Panther to finish with more than seven points. Mayfield had seven of his team's nine 3-pointers.
St. Vincent pulled away steadily, leading 18-12 after one quarter, 38-28 at halftime and 62-45 entering the fourth quarter.
Oak Ridge 64

ZALMA, Mo. -- Oak Ridge had three players reach double figures as it posted a win over struggling Zalma.
Matt Schoen led Oak Ridge with 15 points followed by Beau Morrison with 14 and Alex Fadler with 10.
David Dickenson led Zalma (0-17) with 12 points.
Oak Ridge led 37-22 at halftime, but Zalma outscored the Bluejays 19-8 in the third quarter.
CHARLESTON 74

CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Charleston continued its impressive late-season surge as the Indians defeated Poplar Bluff in overtime to clinch the SEMO Conference title.
The Bluejays (13-11, 6-0 conference) were led by Dontay Clark with 16 points, Lezcano Dean with 15, Delon Turner with 13, Jermaine Bradley with 12 and Jamarrio Betts with 10.

Eagle Ridge 64
New Salem avenged two regular-season losses to claim the Ozark Christian Conference championship from an undermanned Eagle Ridge squad.
Jason Conway scored 28 points for New Salem, while John Davault added 18, Andrew Green 12 and David Green 11.
Toby Shreve scored a career-high 31 points for Eagle Ridge, while Mike Probst added 12 and Daniel Ellinghouse posted 10.

JACKSON, Mo. -- Jackson wrapped up the regular season and tuned up for next week's Class 4A district tournament with an easy victory.
The Lady Indians (17-6) got 14 points from Jenna Leet and 12 apiece from Andrea Koeper and Alisha Burns.
"This is two good games in a row for us now," said Jackson coach Ron Cook. "I think we're ready for districts."

Eagle Ridge won its second straight Ozark Christian Conference Tournament championship with a low-scoring victory.
Amber Karnes led Eagle Ridge with 12 points, while Leah Poole had 11 for New Salem.
Eagle Ridge (14-3), which will compete in the state tournament in Joplin next week, led 6-2 after the first quarter and 16-6 at halftime.
