Weekend rain washed away first-round games in four of the five district baseball tournaments involving local teams.
The Class 1 District 2 tournament in Oran played games Saturday and is still maintaining its original schedule, but all others district tournaments pushed back first-round games to Monday, also altering the dates for semifinal and championship games.
The tournaments of local interest affected by rain were Class 2 District 3 at Greenville, Missouri; Class 3 District 2 at Charleston, Missouri; Class 4 District 1 at Doniphan, Missouri; and Class 5 District 1 at Farmington, Missouri.
In Class 2 District 3, No. 4 Chaffee and No. 5 Meadow Heights will meet at 2 p.m. Monday. No. 3 Puxico and No. 6 Ellington will meet in the other first-round game at 4 p.m. The Chaffee/Meadow Heights winner will face top-seeded Greenville at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the semifinals. The Puxico/Ellington winner will play No. 2 St. Vincent at 4 p.m. The championship, originally slated for Tuesday, will be played at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
In Class 3 District 2, No. 4 Woodland and No. 5 Saxony Lutheran will meet at 2 p.m. Monday, followed by No. 3 East Prairie and No. 6 Charleston at 4:30 p.m. The Woodland/Saxony Lutheran winner will face No. 1 Scott City at 2 p.m. Tuesday, followed by the East Prairie/Charleston winner vs. No. 2 Kelly at 4:30 p.m. The championship, originally slated for Tuesday, will be played at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
In Class 4 District 1, No. 4 Fredericktown and No. 5 Kennett will meet a 2 p.m. Monday, followed by No. 3 Dexter and No. 6 Doniphan at 4:30 p.m. The Fredericktown/Kennett winner will play No. 1 Notre Dame at 2 p.m. Tuesday, and the Dexter/Doniphan winner will face No. 2 Perryville at 4:30 p.m. The championship game, originally scheduled for Tuesday, will be played at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
In Class 5 District 1, No. 4 Sikeston and No. 5 Central will play at 4 p.m. Monday, followed by No. 3 Jackson and No. 6 Hillsboro at 6:30 p.m. The Sikeston/Central winner will face No. 1 Poplar Bluff at 4 p.m. Tuesday, followed by the Jackson/Hillsboro winner vs. No. 2 Farmington at 6:30 p.m. The championship game, originally scheduled for Tuesday, will be played at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
