NOTES: Central would secure its third straight district crown with a victory. Tigers can lose and still win district, but would need Sikeston to defeat Perryville to enforce the tie-breaker. Central can claim its first conference title since 1993 with a win. Central has lost last seven meetings with Poplar Bluff. The Mules have lost to three opponents Central has beaten handily this season -- Blytheville, Jackson, Sikeston. Central has chance to stand 9-1 for the first time since 1978. Monroe Hicks has over 1,500 yards from the line of scrimmage -- 1,149 rushing, 379 receiving. Tigers jumped up to No. 5 in latest Class 4 rankings. Poplar Bluff quarterback Mark Gum leads area with 1,916 yards passing. Tony Webb leads area with 55 catches and 1,006 yards receiving.

Sikeston (6-2, 1-1) at Perryville (2-7, 0-2)

Last week: SIKESTON 33, POPLAR BLUFF 16; CENTRAL 29, PERRYVILLE 14

LAST YEAR: Sikeston 44, Perryville 0

Notes: PERRYVILLE AND SIKESTON WERE ELIMINATED FROM DISTRICT CONTENTION LAST WEEK BUT COULD DETERMINE DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP. GAME ONLY HAS DISTRICT IMPORTANCE IF POPLAR BLUFF DEFEATS CENTRAL. MULES WOULD NEED PERRYVILLE TO DEFEAT SIKESTON SO IT COULD WIN THE TWO-TEAM, HEAD-TO-HEAD TIE-BREAKER WITH CENTRAL. SINCE BECOMING DISTRICT OPPONENTS IN 2000, SIKESTON HAS WON BOTH GAMES WITH PERRYVILLE BY A COMBINED 68-7 SCORE. SIKESTON HAS WON THE LAST 11 MEETINGS WITH PERRYVILLE.

ST. VINCENT (6-3, 1-1) AT VALLE (5-4, 1-1)

Last year: VALLE 7, ST. VINCENT 0

NOTES: Both teams are eliminated from district contention. Valle broke three-game losing streak to St. Vincent with victory last season. Both teams have been powers in Class 1 -- Valle owns six Class 1 state championships and St. Vincent played for state titles in 1998 and 2000. Warriors have won five of their last six since losing their first three games of the season.

Hayti (7-1, 2-0) at Chaffee (1-8, 0-2)

Last week: HAYTI 38, VALLE 6; ST. VINCENT 42, CHAFFEE 7

Notes: HAYTI, SECOND IN THE STATE IN CLASS 1, WRAPPED UP ITS SECOND STRAIGHT DISTRICT TITLE LAST WEEK. HAYTI HAS WON FIVE STRAIGHT DISTRICT GAMES. CHAFFEE HAS LOST 12 STRAIGHT DISTRICT GAMES.
