After starting the season with a loss at Poplar Bluff the Lady Bearcats tennis team has rebounded for two straight wins to move to 2-1 on the season and bring a two match winning streak into their home opener.
On Tuesday the Bearcats traveled to Charleston where they came away with a 7-2 win.
Dexter won two out of three doubles matches. Dexter's Katarrah Churchill and Emerson Dorton defeated Lilly Johnson and De'Ziyah M Hamilton 8-1 and Puja S Maisuria and Kinley Kennedy defeated De'Ava M Hamilton and La'Zarreonna Fitzpatrick 8-4. Charleston recorded its only double win when Amelia Jeanne Logan and Olandria T Williams defeated Sophia James and Febe Chanel Worley in a tight match 9-7.
Dexter continued its run winning 6 of 7 singles matches. Dorton, James, Worley, Maisuria and Avery Medley recorded wins for Dexter with Johnson recording the only singles win for Charleston.
On Wednesday the Lady Bearcats traveled to Cape Central where they again won 7-2.
Dexter won two of three doubles matches. Churchill and Dorton defeated Natalie Kay Voshage and Zea Grabel 9-8 (11-9 in the tiebreaker), James and Worley defeated Lillanna Dubs and Brenna Dunavan 8-3. Ashley Mihia Chian Walker and Annie Elizabeth McDougal recorded Cape Central's lone doubles win with an 8-3 win over Maisuria and Kennedy 8-3.
Dexter came away with wins in five of the six singles matches with Churchill, Dorton, James, Worley and Medley recording wins. Nicole Sadler picked up Cape Central's only singles win.
Dexter will open its home schedule against Sikeston on Thursday afternoon. The match begins at 4 p.m. on the tennis courts at T.S. Hill Middle School.
