Chaffee freshman Steven Dooley earned his first varsity win on the mound with a one-hit performance as Chaffee edged host Bell City 3-1 on Monday.
Dooley struck out 13 batters in seven innings. The Cubs' only hit came off the bat of Blaine Stewart on a misjudged fly ball.
Chris Hanback and Augi Orr each had two hits for the Devils (3-6).
Clay Dover suffered the loss for Bell City.

Advance's Jeremy Limbaugh and Trenton Moses teamed up for back-to-back home runs in both the first and second innings to lead the visiting Hornets to a five-inning rout of Zalma.
Moses homered from both sides of the plate and went 5-for-5 with four RBI and three doubles. Limbaugh went 4-for-5 with two homers and seven RBI. Kevin Adkins had three hits for Advance (8-0), and Darrell Wade added two hits.
Rusty Hendricks won his first game on the mound, striking out 10 and allowing only one hit and no walks in five innings.

Oran needed just 11 hits to score 25 runs, as the Eagles took advantage of 14 walks and eight errors by visiting Oak Ridge to romp in five innings.
Freshman Alex Daniel hit a grand slam for Oran (8-1), while Joey Williams and Trevor Irwin also homered. Irwin went 3-for-3 and Austin Dumey added two hits.
Freshman Kody Campbell pitched all five innings for the victory, allowing four hits, striking out seven and walking none.
Austin Morrison had two hits, including a homer, for Oak Ridge.

Crystal City scored 11 runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to stun visiting St. Vincent.
The Indians (1-6) led 13-3 entering the final frame, but the Hornets rallied on seven hits, three walks, two errors and a hit batter.
St. Vincent had 12 hits, led by Waylon Richardet with three, including two doubles and four RBIs. Sophomore pitcher Anthony Laurentius carried a two-hitter into the seventh before fading, although he was not charged with the loss.

Sophomore Hannah Kinder recorded her sixth state cut time of the season as Central (4-3-1) posted a tie in a dual meet in St. Louis.
Kinder qualified for state by winning the 100 backstroke (1:04.62). She also was first in the 100 freestyle, and swam a leg on the Tigers' winning medley relay team.

Central's Blake Driskell finished in sixth place with a 5-over-par 77, and teammate Kirk Lohmann tied for 10th at 79.

Leopold slammed 31 hits in three innings on host Richland before the mercy rule took effect.
Lori VanderMierden led the Wildcats (5-1) with four RBI off three hits, including a double and two triples. Samantha Bueter scored an inside-the-park homerun for one of her three hits, and Cassie Seiler and Desiree Arnzen each added three hits. Amber Nenninger and Stacey Seabaugh chipped in two hits apiece.

* Jackson's junior high girls track and field team finished first with a score of 95 and Central (83) placed fourth out of 14 teams at the Perryville Invitational. Brittany Moreland won the 1,600 meter (5:39) and Jondrea Riley took first in the pole vault (7 feet) for the Tigers.
Central finished first in the boys competition at 132, Jackson placed third at 64 and Perryville was fifth at 58. Individual winners for Central were Jared Brooks (100 hurdles, 16.07), Shawn Prince (800 meters, 2:18.70) and Jordan Sheets (high jump, 5-4). Central's 800 relay team (Bart Pittman, Brandon Crawford, Jake Garner and Javaris Walker) and 1,600 relay team (John Ritter, Cantrell Andrews, Lucioun Johnson and Sheets) both won.
