DELTA, Mo. -- The Delta Lady Bobcat softball team opened its season Friday with a 5-1 loss to Egyptian.

Losing pitcher Rebecca Cook drove in her team's lone with a double in the first inning. Egyptian, which took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, added a single run in the fifth and two insurance runs in the seventh.

Freshman Ashley Elliott accounted for two of Delta's four hits.

Cook allowed nine hits, struck out nine and walked four.

Perryville 2, St. Pius 2

HILLSBORO, Mo. -- A downpour in the top of the seventh inning doused a Perryville threat as play was halted with the game tied and Lady Pirates at second and third with nobody out.

The game will be resumed at a date to be determined.

St. Pius had taken a 2-0 lead in the fifth, but Perryville (0-1) tied the score in the sixth on an RBI triple by Amy Steffens and a RBI single by Amanda Nuyt.
