ORAN -- The fourth-seeded Delta Bobcats provided the upset of the night in district tournament action Tuesday night, knocking off top-seeded Scott County Central 77-75 in the semifinals of the Missouri Class 1A, District 2 boys tournament. The Bobcats (17-10) jumped out to a 24-14 lead after one quarter before the Braves (18-6) battled back to take a 57-53 lead entering the final quarter. But Delta outscored Scott County 24-18 in the final quarter to reach the finals...

ORAN -- The fourth-seeded Delta Bobcats provided the upset of the night in district tournament action Tuesday night, knocking off top-seeded Scott County Central 77-75 in the semifinals of the Missouri Class 1A, District 2 boys tournament.

The Bobcats (17-10) jumped out to a 24-14 lead after one quarter before the Braves (18-6) battled back to take a 57-53 lead entering the final quarter. But Delta outscored Scott County 24-18 in the final quarter to reach the finals.

Garrett DeBrock dropped home five 3-pointers to lead Delta with 23 points. John Fort scored 22 for the Braves.

The Bobcats will face No. 2 seed Richland in the district final Thursday at 8 p.m.. Richland defeated No. 3 seed Advance 70-65.

Richland (18-4) broke open a close game by outscoring the Hornets 17-9 in the third quarter. Tony Herrion scored 31 for Richland. Seniors Brock Cato and Shaun Bennett paced Advance (15-10) with 16 points.

In girls' semifinal action Tuesday, Scott County Central ran away from Oran 79-30. The lady Braves will play top-seed Delta in the final Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Ashley Woodson and Vontrice Blackmon scored 18 points to lead the Lady Braves. Freshman Sara Heisserer led Oran with 17 points.

Class 2A, District 2

BLOOMFIELD -- Tuesday's girls semifinal games in the Class 2A, District 2 tournament went according to the seeding. No. 1 Notre Dame (18-9) will face second-seeded Scott City (21-5) Friday at 6:30 for the championship.

In the first semifinal game, Notre Dame beat No. 4 Greenville 61-41. Scott City then beat third-seeded Kelly 51-37 in the late game.

A 23-8 advantage in the second quarter was the difference for Notre Dame. The Lady Bulldogs led 10-6 after one quarter and 33-14 at the break.

"We played extremely well in the second quarter," said Notre Dame coach Jerry Grim. "We were patient on offense and we played good defense."

Notre Dame's Rachael Schlosser led all scorers with 13 points. Amanda Lange added 12 and Melissa Maurer had 10. For Greenville, Amber Beckett and Marla Dempster both had 11 points and Jeannie Payne added 10.

In the night's other game, a rematch of last season's district championship game which Scott City won, the Lady Rams outscored Kelly 15-5 in the second quarter and led Kelly 42-23 entering the fourth quarter.

Scott City's Sarah Emerson led all scorers with 18 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. Tara Sanford added 12 points and dished six assists and Heather O'Brien tallied 10. For Kelly, Jennifer Glastetter scored nine.

"We played really good defense," said Scott City coach Randall White. "The girls really got after it."

Class 2A, District 3

CRYSTAL CITY -- The St. Vincent Squaws could not comeback from a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter of their opening-round district contest against host Crystal City, losing 37-34.

St. Vincent, the fourth seed, trailed 26-13 entering the final quarter and dropped back by as many as 14 points with four minutes left before mounting a comeback. The Squaws got to within three points, outscoring the Lady Hornets 21-11 in the final quarter before falling.

Becky Lorenz led St. Vincent with 17 points. The Squaws ended their season with a 7-18 mark.
