Dalhousie captures nine-team SEMO Cup competition

Members representing Dalhousie Golf Club won the nine-team 17th annual SEMO Cup played Saturday at Dalhousie.

Dalhousie's team score of 708 was 20 strokes ahead of runnerup Kimbeland. Defending champion Westwood Hills Country Club of Poplar Bluff finished third, 22 strokes back.

Each golf course had six teams playing for it with the top five team scores overall counting. Teams played in four formats: scramble, four ball, scotch and chapman.

Three teams tied for the top scramble score of 31. Jeff Ketterman and Roger Parker of Bootheel Golf Club (Sikeston, Mo.), Matt Shetley and Darren Harris of Kennett Country Club and Brian Stevens and Bard Womack of Cape Girardeau Country Club.

Womack and Stevens also had the top chapman score with 31. The top scotch score went to Mark Mungle and Gary King of Kimbeland.

Five teams tied for the four-ball lead at 32.

Dalhousie's team of Mark Allen and Greg Howard had the top overall team score with 139. Womack and Stevens finished a shot back.

Dalhousie's other team members were Todd Eastin, Scott Roe, Mark Unger, Ken Swinford, Mark McDowell, Mark Johnson, David Clabaugh, Todd Ladd, Lance Bray and Ron Seabaugh.

In the closest to the pin competition, Brian Stevens (No. 5), Mike Hopen (No. 8), Clabaugh (No. 11) and Mark Mungle (No. 13) were winners on the amateur side. For the pros, Jeff Ketterman (No. 5), Jim Sides (No. 8), Brian Walker (No. 11) and Jim Davie (No. 13) were winners. Stevens and Walker won the longest drive contest.
