First-year coach Nate Crowden may have picked a difficult year to take over the reins of the Delta girls basketball team. "The biggest difference between this year and last is how young we are," said Crowden. "Last year they started four seniors; this year we only have one."That lone senior is guard/forward Laura Reiminger. Teammate Erin Cook, a junior who will also be playing guard/forward, will need to work with Reiminger to provide leadership for a young team. Crowden will be relying on the pair to demonstrate what needs to be done to compete successfully at the varsity level.

Filling out the rest of the varsity lineup will be junior guard/forward Tiffany Elliot and sophomore forward Jessica Springer. Five freshmen will be used by Delta, as well, including: guard Rebecca Cook, forward Rebecca Below, forward Sarah Cook and guard/forward Katrina Flores. Aspiring to improve on last season's 7-15 record, Crowden is focusing on the fundamentals of the game. "This year is going to be a learning year for them," said Crowden. "The sooner they pick up on how things should be done, the more competitive they'll be throughout the year. We have a lot of potential, if we work hard and create the habits necessary for success."Due to the small turnout of players, there will be no girls junior varsity squad playing for Delta this season.

The Lady Bobcats opened their season Nov. 22 at Kelly.
