Mitchell, Stalker win Four-Ball title

Travis Mitchell and Tyler Stalker shot a second-round 61 on Sunday to win the Four-Ball Championship at Dalhousie Golf Club.

The pair ended with a 128 total to finish two shots ahead of the team of Carr Vernon and Jimmy Vernon, who entered the day tied for first with Brevin Giebler and Travis Simmons after shooting a 64 in Saturday's first round. The Vernons shot a 66 in the second round.

The 11-under 61 posted by Mitchell and Stalker was the tournament's low score by three strokes.

Drew Hatten and Patrick Britt (65-67--132) tied for third with Mark Addington and Steve Groom (66-66--132). Sam Migdal and Teddy Jones (68-63-- 133) finished fifth, and Giebler and Simmons (64-70--134) tied for sixth with Drew Smith and Joe Thomas (67-67--134).

Seventy-eight teams competed in the event.

Schneider cards ace at Kimbeland C.C.

Lillian Schneider of Jackson fired her third career hole-in-0ne last week at Kimbeland Country Club.

Schneider used a 7-wood to ace No. 18, a par 3 playing 108 yards. Witnesses were Linda Williams and Dorothy Holland.

Cook on winning horseshoe teams

Lachelle Cook was on the winning team in three SEMO Horseshoe Association events held July 31 to Aug. 2.

Cook paired with Wesley Stoverink to win a 13-team competition at the Backyard Horseshoe Club in Grassy, Missouri. Mike Massa and Cori Stoverink took second.

Cook and Randy Senciboy won the following day at the Oran Jaycees, while Korey Kluesner and Doris Stubenrauch finished second.

Cook and Keven Bartles then won a competition at the Leopold Knights of Columbus. Mike Davault and Stoverink placed second.

The next competition is the Knights of Columbus state tournament which begins Friday in Bloomsdale, Missouri.

Asher fires hole-in-one at Kimbeland C.C.

Hunter Asher of Jackson recently carded his first hole-in-one at Kimbeland Country Club.

Asher used an 8-iron to ace No. 6, a par 3 playing 160 yards. Eli Pike witnessed the shot.

Registration for men's coed softball leagues

The City of Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department will host a men's and coed softball league this fall at the Shawnee Sports Complex. Cost is $225 for a 10-game season. Registration deadline is Sept. 4. Info: Chris Eastridge, 339-6788, cityofcapegirardeau.org.

Adult soccer league to begin Sept. 13

Adult flag football league accepting teams

The City of Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department is conducting registration for an adult flag football league.

Youth flag football league being formed

The City of Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department is conducting registration for a boys and girls flag football league that will begin Sept. 19.

Trail of Tears Triathlon will be held Sept. 12

The City of Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department will host the Coors Light/Trail of Tears Triathlon on Sept. 12. The race includes a 700-meter swim, 15-mile bike ride and 4-mile run. Early registration ends Aug. 25 with a cost of $45 for individuals and $55 per team. Registration after Aug. 25 to Sept. 11 is $55 and $65. Fees are $60 and $75 the day of the race.
