Allen to play volleyball at Missouri Baptist

Tyler Allen, a 2015 graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School, signed to play volleyball at Missouri Baptist University, an NAIA school in the St. Louis area.

Allen recently helped the Bulldogs, who were playing just their second season of boys volleyball, to a second-place finish in the Class 3 state tournament. He finished his senior season with 156 kills.

Slinkard signs to play baseball

Tyler Slinkard, a 2015 graduate of Jackson High School, recently signed to play baseball at Lincoln College, a NJCAA Division II school in Lincoln, Illinois.

Slinkard, who pitched and played first base, helped the Indians to the Class 5 state quarterfinals in a 22-11 season.

Davis signs with Missouri Baptist

Xominique Davis, a 2015 graduate of Jackson High School, signed to compete in track and field at Missouri Baptist University, an NAIA school in the St. Louis area.

Davis broke the Jackson school record in the triple jump in qualifying for the recent Class 5 state meet with a performance of 45 feet, 1 1/2 inches at the sectional meet.

Litzelfelner tops Mo-Am qualifers

Jack Litzelfelner of Jackson shot a 68 to post the low score at a men's Missouri Amateur Championship qualifier last week at Dalhousie Golf Club.

Litzelfelner was among 13 players to qualify among the field of 36. Brevin Giebler (72) of Cape Girardeau (72), David Babcock (75) of Cape Girardeau, Jake Seabaugh (76) of Cape Girardeau and Brady Dixon (76) of Mounds, Illinois, also qualified.

Haney team wins Rotary golf tourney

The foursome of Scott Haney, Tedd Powers, Derieck Hodges and Rob Litzelfelner shot a 56 at Dalhousie Golf Club to win the Cape West Rotary fundraiser tournament for Southeast Missouri State University last week.

The team of Joe Pujol, Jeremy Barnes, Mick Buck and Kent Phillips finished a stroke back.

Jeff Hotop, Nick Burger, Mike Zahner and Pat Prost shot 66 and won a three-team tie-breaker to finish atop A flight.

Closest-to-the-pin winners were Rob Litzelfelner (No. 5), Nancy Daues (No. 8), Hodges (No. 11) and Pujol (No. 13). Long-drive winners were Gene Galnore (men) and Darla Stratton (women).

Riley finishes first at Gateway Junior event

Camden Riley shot a 51 to place first in the boys 10-and-11 division of the PGA Gateway Junior Series last week at Hidden Trails Country Club in Dexter, Missouri.

Brant Hobbs shot a 52 to win the boys 12-and-13 division, while Grace Hightower won the girls 10-and-11 division with a 62.

Cook on winning horseshoe teams

Lachelle Cook was on the winning teams in the competitions held by the SEMO Horseshoe Association on May 30 and 31.

Cook teamed with Danny McMillan to win the team-team event in Scott City on May 30. Carolyn Schreckenberg and Phyllis Crump placed second.

Cook paired with Randy Senciboy to win May 31 in Benton, Missouri. Terrie Rose and Tom Kluesner placed second.

The next competitions will be Saturday at the Backyard Horseshoe Club in Grassy, Missouri, and Sunday at the Knights of Columbus in Oran, Missouri.
