The Jackson Cal Ripken baseball team advanced to the semifinals of the Midwest Plains Regional Tourament for 12-year-old boys on Sunday with a 14-2 victory over Iowa City in Dickinson, N.D.
Logan Bartles was the winning pitcher. He also had a home run and a double as hewent 2-for-3 at the plate.
Clayton Baker added two home runs for Jackson, which had 15 hits. Neil Johnson and Zach McDowell both added two hits.
Jackson will play Fargo, N.D., at 3 p.m., today in a semifinal contest.
Festus wins Zone 4 Tournament
Festus used a complete game from Drew Horrell to win 6-1 over Anheuser-Busch on Sunday to win the Zone 4 American Legion Tournament at Jackson's Legion Field.
Anheuser-Busch forced Sunday's game with a 7-6 win over Festus Saturday night. Horrell, pitching on two days rest after shutting down Jackson on Thursday, allowed just five hits.
Offensively, Horrell was also the star for Festus with two hits and two RBIs. Festus broke the game open with a four-run fifth inning to take a 5-1 lead.
