SALISBURY, N.C. -- Ricky Clemons, whose allegations of being paid by former coaches at Missouri are at the center of a still-unresolved NCAA investigation, will play basketball this fall at Livingstone College, the Salisbury Post reported Friday.
The newspaper said Clemons participated in a promotional game Thursday evening at the school's gymnasium, scoring 23 of his 25 points in the second half. The paper said he left quickly after the game ended, without commenting.
The Post said Clemons will play for Livingstone's new coach, James Stinson.
Livingstone officials did not immediately return calls from The Associated Press seeking further comment about Clemons's reported enrollment. Incorporated in 1879, Livingstone is a historically black, private liberal arts college in Salisbury. It is an NCAA Division II member, and competes in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
Clemons played for a single season for Missouri at point guard. He was booted from the team and had his athletic scholarship revoked as fallout from legal problems, after Clemons admitted guilt in choking and detaining his ex-girlfriend at his Columbia, Mo., apartment.
His attorney, Aaron Ford, had said Clemons stands by his accounts of receiving money from coaches, and had nothing to gain by lying because he wanted to play college basketball again.
