The Cape Central Lady Tigers improved to 8-0 on Tuesday with a 2-0 victory over Notre Dame.
Nicole Thiele scored the lone first-half goal 29 minutes into the game on a pass from Erica McDonald.
The score remained 1-0 until Emilee Atchley deposited an insurance goal with 16 minutes left in the game. Lori Bittle assisted on the play.
Cape Central will visit Marion on Thursday. Notre Dame (4-5-1) will host Poplar Bluff on Tuesday.
Baseball
Advance 9, Woodland 7
ADVANCE -- Chris Wallace had a big game on the mound and at the plate Tuesday for Advance.
Wallace pitched a scoreless 2 2/3 innings of relief, striking out five, and also went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Garrett Broshuis, making his first appearance of the year, started for the Hornets and earned the win. Advance improved to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in league play
Advance trailed 3-2 before erupting for six runs in the third inning. Matt Welch started the rally with a two-run single. Chance White also had three hits and scored three runs as Advance slammed 15 hits.
Advance will travel to Chaffee this Saturday for the four-team Chaffee Tournament. The Hornets will face Dexter in their opening matchup. Chaffee will play East Prairie.
Softball
Advance 10, Dexter 7
DEXTER -- Advance, a Class 1A school, picked up a big SCAA victory over Class 3A Dexter on the road Tuesday.
Advance, which snapped Dexter's 46-game conference winning streak last year, beat the Lady Bearcats for the second-straight time and improved to 6-0.
Cassandra Williams went all seven innings and earned the win. She allowed six hits and struck out four.
Offensively, Ashley Hitt had three hits and Erin Jenkins, Julie Bagwell and Amanda Broshuis each had two hits. Broshuis had a bases-loaded triple.
Advance will play Dexter again Saturday in the Chaffee Tournament.
Scott City 12, St. Vincent 1
PERRYVILLE -- Scott City's Dana Pettit threw a no-hitter in the Lady Rams win over St. Vincent on the road Tuesday.
In five innings of work, Pettit struck out five and walked three.
Offensively for Scott City (5-0), Pettit went 2-for-3 with a double and Tara Sanford went 2-for-2.
Scott City will host Kelly on Friday.
Girls swimming
Lafayette 123, Cape Central 61
ST. LOUIS -- Cape Central's swim team swam into rough waters Wednesday and fell to St. Louis Lafayette.
Lafayette finished third at state last year and is one of the favorites to win the state title this year.
"I like to swim the best teams so our fastest swimmers see competition they're going see at state," said Cape Central coach Dayna Powell. "We knew going in it would tough, but we still had some good swims."
Central finished first in four events. Grace Freeman won both the 100- and 200-meter freestyle. She finished the 200 in a season-best 2:02.48. She was also a member of the winning 200 freestyle relay, teaming with Jean Maguire, Laura Dombrowski and Jennifer Freeze. Courtney Maguire turned in the Lady Tigers' other first-place finish, winning the 100 breaststroke.
Central returns to action Saturday when Nerinx Hall visits for an 11 a.m. meet.

Central sweeps
ANNA, Ill. -- Cape Central's girls and boys both won their meets here Tuesday.
Behind a school-record performance in the discus by Laura Lukens, the Lady Tigers totaled 137 points to beat host Anna-Jonesboro (50), Massac Co. Ill., (42) and Viena, Ill., (20).
Lukens' 139-foot throw in the discus broke the previous school record by three feet.
The Tigers scored 108 points to beat Massac Co. (75) and Anna-Jonesboro (28).
Central's boys won 14 of 18 events.

Boys tennis
Cape Central 9, Dexter 0
Cape Central's varsity tennis team posted its second shutout in as many days with a victory over Dexter on Tuesday.
The Tigers, who Beat Kennett 9-0 on Monday, improved to 5-3 on the season.
The JV defeated Dexter 8-4 to improve to 5-2-1 on the season. The JV also beat Kennett on Monday 6-0.
Central will visit Poplar Bluff on Thursday.

JACKSON -- The Indian golf team improved to 8-0 in dual competition with a victory over Dexter at Bent Creek Golf Course.
Travis Reiminger led Jackson, carding a 40 for nine-holes. John Litzelfelner and Clint Faries both shot 41. Tyler Luebbers shot 42.
Dexter's Ryan Jacques won medalist honors with a 39.
Jackson is back in action today with a triangular hosted by Notre Dame. Malden will also compete.
SE netters win 6-3
The Southeast Missouri women's tennis team defeated Harding University 6-3 Tuesday to improve its season record to 12-7.
Southeast won four of the six singles matches and captured wins in Nos. 1 and 2 doubles.
