The Charleston Senior Babe Ruth baseball team handed a 13-2 loss to visiting Cape Girardeau American Legion Post 63 on Monday night.
The Fighting Squirrels threw nine pitchers at Cape in the nine-inning game with starter Cody Payne getting the win.
Trevor Propst took the loss for Cape, allowing 10 runs but just two earned over four innings. He gave up eight hits, struck out three and walked three but was hurt by a defense that committed nine errors.
Post 63 (19-22) had six hits. Devin Austin led the way with two hits.
Post 63 returns to action later this week at the District 14 tournament in Senath, Mo. Cape had been scheduled to play Scott County in the first round of the tournament on Thursday, but Scott County has dropped out of the tournament due to a lack of players. An updated schedule for the four-team tournament has not been released.
Scott County closed its season with a loss at Sikeston.
Jordan Kinder, Zach Carlyle and Lane Henson all had two hits for Scott County, which closed its season at 4-16-1.
Carlyle had three RBIs, while Henson, Logan Henson and Tyler Rogers all had one RBI. Kinder scored two runs.
