SCOTT CITY, Mo. — Charleston and East Prairie made their presence felt at the MSHSAA Class 2, District 1 Meet at Scott City High School on Saturday, May 4.
Athletes from both schools delivered impressive performances, with several earning top-four finishes and securing their spots in the next round of competition.
Charleston's boys showcased their speed and versatility. Kamirion Wiley dominated the 400-meter dash with a winning time of 49.34 seconds and placed second in the 200 (22.29).
Adrian Rodgers added a third-place finish in the 400 (53.02), while Kamarious Clark earned fourth in the 300 hurdles (44.92). Charleston's relay teams also made their mark, taking second in the 800 (1:34.08) and fourth in both the 400 (46.53) and 1,600 (3:41.00). Lawrence Johnson soared to victory in the triple jump (42 feet and 05.75 inches) and a second-place finish in the high jump (20-03.25). Charles David showcased his strength in the shot put, securing second place with a throw of 43-08.75.
For the Charleston girls, Jada Jones sprinted to second-place finishes in the 100 (12.68) and 200 (26.38). Daniyah Thomas added a third-place finish in the 200 (26.94) and the long jump (15-00.75). Treasure Kimble powered through the 200 hurdles to win with a time of 49.06. Charleston's girls dominated the relays, winning the 400 (51.50) and 800 (1:48.65).
East Prairie's Connor Marcum soared to victory in the high jump with a leap of 21-04, while Jahirah Mosley earned a strong second-place finish in the discus with a throw of 99-10.50.
The Class 2 Sectional Meet will take place at Park Hills Central High School on Saturday, May 11.
