CHARLESTON, Mo. — The Charleston baseball dropped its third straight with an 8-0 loss to South Callaway on Monday, April 10.
The Bulldogs (8-3) used a pitching gem from ace Ryan Lepper to secure the victory over the Bluejays (3-5) at Hillhouse Park.
“We didn’t make a few plays which put us behind,” said Charleston coach Michael Minner. “We’ve got to find a way to score some runs, but we’re competing. We did some positive things but we have to string some together.”
Lepper earned the complete-game win after pitching all seven innings. He did not allow any runs on two hits with six strikeouts.
Bennett Logan took the loss after throwing 5.1 innings and allowing three earned runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and four walked batters.
“[Logan] was really good tonight,” Minner said. “He threw a lot of strikes and really competed.”
Chase Worthy pitched 0.2 innings while allowing two earned runs on two hits with a walk.
Zach Rosson and Logan were responsible for the team’s only hits.
Charleston travels to Russellville (11-3) on Tuesday, April 11 and to Bloomfield (3-4) on Thursday, April 13.
