Chaffee High School is searching for a new head football coach after the January resignation of Terry Brashers.

Chaffee's last win came on Oct. 11, 2002, against East Prairie. The Red Devils have lost 24 straight since.

Chaffee did show some signs of life this past season, scoring 28 points in a loss to East Prairie, the most points the team has scored in a game since a season-opening victory against Grandview in 2000. The team finished the season averaging 10.1 points per game while allowing 44.5 per contest. The Red Devils passed for 1,340 yards and had four players exceed 230 yards in receiving.

The Red Devils have not enjoyed a winning season since going 6-4 in 1990. Since then, Chaffee has not won more than three games in a season, including only three wins over the past four seasons.

Athletic director Terry Glenzy said the school could start interviewing candidates within the next month.

College notes

* Maryville junior Courtney Vickery, a Notre Dame graduate, had a game-high four assists in a 82-52 win against Greenville on Wednesday. Vickery, the starting point guard, leads the team with 68 assists, averages more than two steals a game, about five points per game and two rebounds a game. Maryville is 14-4, 8-0 in conference play, and has won 10 straight.
