POPLAR BLUFF -- Chaffee's Junior American Legion remained unbeatable Saturday afternoon with a doubleheader sweep over Poplar Bluff. Chaffee (14-0, 7-0 in district) scored a close 3-2 decision in the first game and a 5-0 shutout in the nightcap. With the score tied 2-2 in the opening contest, Jason Bickings led off the seventh inning with double. Brian Obermann bunted Bickings to third and Lance Amick doubled him home for the winning run...

POPLAR BLUFF -- Chaffee's Junior American Legion remained unbeatable Saturday afternoon with a doubleheader sweep over Poplar Bluff.

Chaffee (14-0, 7-0 in district) scored a close 3-2 decision in the first game and a 5-0 shutout in the nightcap.

With the score tied 2-2 in the opening contest, Jason Bickings led off the seventh inning with double. Brian Obermann bunted Bickings to third and Lance Amick doubled him home for the winning run.

Obermann (4-0) pitched the final two innings for the win, relieving Tommy Stidham in the sixth inning with no outs and runners on first and third. Oberman got out of the jam with the no runs scoring to set up the decisive seventh inning.

Josh Eftink had two of Chaffee's five hits.

In the second game, Keith Hamm (3-0) allowed only two hits and struck out 10 in a dominating win.

Amick and Eftink both had two hits. Chaffee totaled seven hits.
