Chaffee, Jackson win at state Senior Babe Ruth baseball tournament

The two local teams posted victories in their opening games Saturday at the state Senior Babe Ruth baseball tournament at Hillhouse Park in Charleston, Mo.

Chaffee cruised to a 14-1 win over Arch City.

Jackson earned a 7-2 win over Charleston, with Ross Moldenhauer earning the win on the mound.

Jackson struck for two runs in the fourth inning before Charleston cut its deficit in half in the top of the fifth.

Jackson responded with three runs in the fifth and two in the sixth.

Chaffee will face Poplar Bluff in today's 4:30 p.m. winners bracket semifinal.

Jackson will play Boonville in today's 7:45 p.m. winners bracket semifinal.
