OAK RIDGE -- Chaffee's girls softball team concluded a stellar spring season Friday with a 22-1, five-inning thumping of Oak Ridge.
Chaffee finished with a 15-1 record.
Senior Kelly Glueck (6-0) recorded the win on the mound and established a new school record with a 1.13 E.R.A. for the season.
Glueck and teammate Jennifer Siebert also had three hits and four RBIs apiece. Abby Seyer collected three hits and two RBIs and Brandi Foulk had two hits, including a home run, and four RBIs.
Chaffee took a 1-0 lead into the third inning and proceeded to score nine times for a 10-0 lead.
"Overall it was just a very good season," said Chaffee coach Mark Devenport. "The kids did a good job and it was a lot of fun."
Girls Soccer
Cape Central 3, Hillsboro 0
HILLSBORO -- Cape Central scored three first-half goals and completed its regular season undefeated Friday with a shutout victory.
The Lady Tigers will enter next Thursday's Class 4A, District 1 tournament with a 16-0 record.
Emilee Atchley opened the scoring 11 minutes into the game, depositing a pass from Rachel Hessenkemper. At the 28-minute mark Hessenkemper upped the lead to 2-0, scoring off a pass from Melissa Altenthal. A minute later Corie Nunnally scored as Mindy Hoffman assisted on the play.
Central won the JV game 5-0 and finished 6-2-2. Katie Cozby scored three goals and Kim Aslinger and Ashley McElroy each tallied one.
Baseball
Oak Ridge 4, Chaffee 0
OAK RIDGE -- Mike McCall allowed just two hits and struck out 11 batters as Oak Ridge won its final regular season game.
McCall, who went the distance, did not walk a batter.
Oak Ridge banged out 11 hits as Brian Glueck, Brent Schreiner and McCall all had two hits.
Oak Ridge (11-6) took a 1-0 lead in the second inning and added three runs in the fourth.
Oak Ridge opens Class 1A, District 2 action Monday against Advance. Chaffee will open Class 2A district play on Monday against St. Vincent.
