CHARLESTON, MO. -- Top-seeded Chaffee and third-seeded Sikeston hooked up in a marathon struggle late Friday night for the right to remain alive in the District 14 American Legion Baseball Tournament.

As the Southeast Missourian went to press, the squads were tied 11-11 in the 10th inning of an elimination game.

The eventual winner moves into today's 1 p.m. loser's bracket final where it will face fifth-seeded Poplar Bluff, which lost to second-seeded Dunklin County 13-3 in seven innings during the winner's bracket final earlier Friday evening.

Dunklin County, shooting for its fourth consecutive tournament title, will play at 4 p.m. today against the survivor of the 1 p.m. game. Dunklin County, which improved to 39-6, got a 15-strikeout performance form John Binkard in its win over Poplar Bluff.
