Chaffee continued its strong start to the softball season by beating visiting Central 5-3 Friday afternoon.

The Red Devils improved to 3-1, as they have posted three straight victories since losing Monday's opener to Jackson in extra innings. Central fell to 1-2.

Sarah Benton pitched a four-hitter, with six strikeouts and two walks. Bethany Sweet took the loss.

Susie Edwards had two hits for Central. Kegan Orr tripled to highlight Chaffee's six-hit attack.

Bailey Reutzel and Eden Ellison had three hits apiece and Notre Dame banged out 17 in all during a five-inning romp at home.

Paris Burger, Erika Reinagel and Cortney Ostendorf had two hits apiece for the Bulldogs (2-0). Miranda Schlosser struck out three, walked none and allowed three hits in five innings for the win.
