Central's McDonald fires no-hitter in 10-0 win

Megan McDonald put an exclamation point behind the 12th game in Central's softball winning streak, throwing a no-hitter as the Tigers beat Poplar Bluff 10-0 in five innings Thursday at Arena Park.

McDonald (10-4), a junior, struck out 11 Mules and issued only a fifth-inning walk as the Tigers improved to 13-4.

Central took an 8-0 lead with four runs in both the first and second innings and added single runs in the third and fifth.

Tara Ford led a 13-hit attack with two hits and two RBIs.

Perryville 7, St. Vincent 6

The Pirates nipped the host Squaws to win the battle of Perryville.

Perryville (4-9) had 16 hits, led by Renee Lottes with three. Sara Lappe, Jenna Schuessler, Kelly Kassel, Kate Lowry, Emily Tiehes and Stephanie Hoehn all added two.

Lappe pitched a complete-game seven-hitter.

Volleyball

JACKSON 15-15, MEADOW HEIGHTS 5-9

Jackson (16-1-2) continued to roll as the Indians beat Meadow Heights on the road.

Jessie Koeper led the Indians with 13 kills and 12 digs. Jennifer Mesey had eight kills and 10 blocks, Courtney Vance recorded 16 assists and Mallory Goodman had eight blocks. Linden Hahs came up with 13 digs, Jennifer Ferrell added eight and Molly Hartmann had seven.

Jackson's JVwon 15-9, 15-6.

Scott City 8-15-15, Oak Ridge 15-11-4

It took Scott City (13-4-2) three games to pick up a road victory over Oak Ridge (2-10)

Amanda O'Brien had six kills and eight assists for Scott City. Megan Ressel added 11 assists. Shana Wadlington and Kacie Cartwright each had four kills.

Laura Glueck had seven kills and Cassie Ludwig added five.

Oak Ridge's JV won 15-6, 15-6.

Chaffee 15-15, Woodland 4-4

Chaffee (3-7) kept Woodland (0-12) winless as the Cardinals were swept in a home match.

Molly Fowler served nine points, including two aces, to lead the way. Mallory Kiefer had four kills and Natalie Townsend added six digs.

For Woodland, Stacy Green had three kills, Sierra Roberts had three digs and Amanda Abner added three assists.

Woodland's JV won 15-0, 13-15, 15-11

Leopold 15-15, Zalma 1-2

Leopold (18-2-1) continued its impressive season by allowing Zalma to score just three points during a home victory.

Holly Jansen had five kills for the Wildcats. Courtney Wesbecher, Tasha Thele and Melissa Stroder each had three kills. Wendy Vandeven recorded 12 assists.

Leopold's JV won 15-3, 15-3.

Bell City 15-15, Dexter 7-7

Host Bell City (12-4) defeated Dexter in straight sets.

Katie Niemczyk had nine kills, nine digs and eight points for Bell City. Whitney Abner led the team with 15 assists. Sarah Metcalf had service points and Sarah Scherer seven digs. Erin Dissler and Amber Hepner each had two blocks.

Bell City's JV lost 15-3, 15-10.

St. Vincent 15-15, Herculaneum 9-8

St. Vincent (9-9-2) pulled to .500 with a home victory.

Danielle Schremp led the way with eight service points. Chelsey Brown and Mary-Beth Reiss each had four kills. Dani Emmendorfer added eight assists.

St. Vincent's JV (5-6-1) won 15-3, 15-4.

Boys' soccer

JACKSON 6, FARMINGTON 0

Jackson (3-5-1) posted a shutout at home.

Mark Geracke and Stuart Knowlan each scored two goals for Jackson. Brett LaForest and Tyler Beussink added the other goals. Austin McDowell made four saves to record his second shutout of the season.

Jackson's JV also defeated Farmington 6-0.
