Despite missing its top three players due to injuries, the Central boys basketball team still posted a 65-42 victory Friday night against visiting New Madrid County Central.
Center Darnell Wilks, guard Eli Harris and guard Alex Ray all were sidelined.
"We had so many other guys step up," said Central coach Derek McCord. "It was a great team effort."
Freshmen Jajuan Bell and Jeremy Kimble, who had been receiving spot varsity action, split time at point guard and combined for 21 points. Bell had 16 points and hit all three of his 3-point attempts.
Anthony Hempstead had 14 points and 15 rebounds for Central (7-8). Jared Thomas added 10 points.
Central's 1979-80 boys basketball state championship team was honored at halftime.

Mark Dannenmueller scored 29 points and Mark Johnston had a triple-double to help Scott City rally past visiting Sikeston after trailing by 18 points midway through the third quarter.
