With one match remaining before district competition, Central's boys tennis team scored an impressive 5-4 home win over previously unbeaten Farmington on Wednesday.

The top three singles players lost tough matches for Central (5-7), but the Tigers' Nos. 4, 5 and 6 players picked up the slack. P.D. Stuart disposed of his opponent 6-1, 6-1; Adam Baron won 6-3, 6-2; and Kevin Rohatgi didn't drop a game. Central's No. 1 doubles team of Heath Orr and Will Ramsey rolled 6-0, 6-2 and the No. 3 doubles team of Stuart-Baron clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-4 win.

Central's junior varsity team won 11-7.

BASEBALL

Oran 12, Leopold 2

Oran cranked four home runs in a win at home.

Tyler Cookson finished off the Wildcats (7-7) with a blast in the bottom of the sixth inning to enact the 10-run rule.

Nathan Seyer, Trey Graviett and Tyler Nelson added home runs for the Eagles (12-2). Nelson finished 3-for-3 with two doubles.

SOFTBALL

Oran 10, Leopold 3

Jamie Pobst pitched a complete-game three-hitter and visiting Leopold lost for the first time.

Oran (7-4) banged out 12 hits with Danielle Klipfel's three hits leading the way.

Holly Jansen had two hits for Leopold (13-1).

GIRLS SOCCER

Perryville 3, Central 1

All the scoring came in the first half for Perryville at home.

Ashley Blyzes had two goals for the Pirates (11-6-2), and Jenna Schuessler added a goal and an assist. Jodie Amschler also had an assist for Perryville. Kate Lowry made 10 saves for the Pirates.

Central (7-9) got its goal from Stephanie White and an assist from Lindsey Jateff.

TRACK AND FIELD

Chaffee Invitational

Despite nagging injuries Scott City's Loren Groves won three events and the Rams girls won at Chaffee.

Groves won the shot put, discus and 100 hurdles. Jennifer Vandeven swept the short distances (100, 200, 400). Christy Laxton won the 1,600 and 800 for Scott City, and Angie Laxton broke her own record in the 3,200 with a winning time of 13:17.

Chaffee's Natalie Townsend won the long jump, and Kelly's Rachel Kline won the high jump.

Scott City's boys finished second to Malden. Kelly's Nathan Lewer won the high jump, Wade Buckner won the 110 high hurdles, and Tyson Glaser won the 100. Scott City got wins from Jarrod Pullen in the shot put and Joe Bruner in the 200. Brandon Davis of Chaffee won the 300 intermediate hurdles.
