Central tennis falls to unbeaten Dexter

The Central boys tennis team fell 6-3 to unbeaten Dexter in a home match delayed by rain.

Dexter improved to 8-0, while Central fell to 6-3.

No. 1 singles player Kevin Rohatgi posted a 6-0 victory against Jake Smith and teamed with Alex Kies for a doubles victory. No. 2 singles player Carson Kelley also won.

But Dexter won the other four singles matches and two of the three doubles matches.

Andy Stephens pitched a four-hitter, as Scott City won on the road for its third straight victory.

Stephens struck out 12, walked five and allowed two earned runs.

The Rams (4-6) had eight hits, led by Jason Schenimann with three. Cody Carlyle and Blake Dirnberger added two hits each, while Jon Barr delivered four RBIs.

Chase Seyer struck out five batters in five innings and went 2-for-3 at the plate with two doubles and five RBI to lead Oran to a five-inning win.

Oran had 13 hits, including three apiece from Caleb Seyer and Trevor Irwin. Paul Bucher and Tyler Beardsee each added two hits for the Eagles (9-4).

Andrew Wagoner suffered the loss for Woodland.

East Prairie battled back from deficits three times to pull out a road win over Kelly on Tuesday.

East Prairie's Preston Shoemaker picked up the win, allowing six hits in six innings. Ben Walters earned the save.

Dallas Tew took the loss for Kelly (4-6). He went the distance, tossing a seven-hitter with eight strikeouts and no walks.

"We're giving the other team too many opportunities to beat us and they're taking advantage of it," Kelly coach Cory Johnson said.

Kelly plays its third game in three days with a makeup game at Charleston today at 4 p.m.

St. Vincent 12, De Soto 8

St. Vincent earned its fourth win in its last five games with a road win at De Soto.

Joey Guilliams went 3-for-3 with three RBI to lead the Indians' 12-hit performance.

Alex Armbruster, Greg Finger and Anthony Brown each had two hits for St. Vincent (4-6).

Finger picked up his first pitching win, allowing three earned runs in 4 1/3 innings.

Central's Blake Driskell shot a 3-under-par 32 at the Cape Country Club, as the Tigers defeated Notre Dame by 20 strokes.

Kirk Lohmann shot a 37. Zach Kluesner, Sam Bornstein and Robert Kaverman each shot 40.

"The 32 Blake had, I can't remember the last time someone shot a 32," Central coach Dick Wadlington said.

Will Lindman and Jonathan Blattel shot 41s for the Bulldogs. Brandon Holzum shot a 43 and Clayton Eftink shot a 44.

Jackson 148, Siketon 157

Gabe Sauer and Alex Balsman each shot a 36 to lead Jackson to a win at Kimbeland.

Ryan Mouser and Tyler Sprandel each shot 38 for Jackson.

Perryville Invitational

Perryville's Matt Unterreiner won the 110 hurdles and was part of the first-place 800-meter relay, while teammate Terry Wood ran in both the winning 3,200- and 800-meter relays, as the Pirates finished first on the boys side.

Notre Dame got a school record in a 1,600 relay win. Relay members were Austin Critchlow, Mark Zimmer, Jason Delgado and Matt Pfau. Critchlow won the 800, and Bryce Willen won the pole vault with a height of 14 feet.

Andy Glass won the shot put for Jackson.

Jackson's girls finished second with wins in the 400 and 800 relays. Jackson also picked up individual wins from Amy West, who clearde 10-6 in the pole vault, Rachel Lowes (800), Rebecca Martin (shot put) and Rachel Kahle (100).

Katie Daniel won the 100 and 300 hurdles for Notre Dame.

Chelsey Marr scored 16 minutes into the game for the Pirates (7-7) with an assist from Kendra Schilli, and Katie Fulton fed Amber Hacker for another goal off an indirect free kick in the second half.

SOFTBALL Oran 13, Woodland 4

Oran hammered out 14 hits and defeated Woodland to claim third place in the Oak Ridge Tournament.

The game, played at Oran, was suspended after six innings due to a time limit.

Oran's Callie Kielhofner won her first game on the mound with a six-inning, one-hit outing.

Tori St. Cin and Jodi Urhahn each had three hits for the Eagles (8-4), and Kielhofner and Alyson Seyer added two hits apiece.

Sasha Hutson had a two-run triple for Woodland's only hit.
