The winner of the Noon Optimist Girls Soccer Tournament will not come from the four area squads, as St. Vincent and Central dropped semifinal games Friday at Central.

St. Vincent fell to Marion (Ill.) 3-1, while Central dropped a 1-0 decision to Sikeston.

The championship game will be 2 p.m. today between Marion and Sikeston. Central and St. Vincent will play in the third-place game at noon today.

The Squaws (2-1) were tied 1-1 going into halftime on an unassisted goal from Brooke Brown. Marion scored twice in the second half to bring home the win.

In the other semifinal, Sikeston scored a second-half goal to edge the Tigers (1-2).

Notre Dame cruised by Poplar Bluff 3-1 in the consolation bracket. The Bulldogs will play Perryville in the fifth-place game at noon today.

Destiny Dirnberger scored twice and Mindy Siebert added a goal for Notre Dame (1-1). Meridith Medlin had two assists and Siebert added one.

Perryville won its consolation game 2-0 over Farmington. Ashley Reid and Becca Hanquist scored for the Pirates (2-1), and Hanquist and Alicia Kueker assisted. Chastity Marr had five saves for the shutout.

BASEBALLChaffee 9, Charleston 7

Chaffee scored five runs in the top of the seventh to rally for the road win.

The Red Devils (2-1) trailed 5-4 heading into the seventh. Adam Uhrhan pitched 6 innings for the win. Chris Hanback retired the final two batters for the save.

Adam Crowe led Chaffee with three hits, and Andy Hendrix and Aaron Horrell had two apiece.

John Long and Cody Kennedy combined for a no-hitter as Meadow Heights picked up its first win.

Long struck out eight in three innings, and Kennedy added four strikeouts in two innings. Matt Groves led the Panthers (1-1) with three hits.
