McDonald issued two walks and both Hawk runs were unearned.

Erica Schabbing drove in three of the Tigers' runs, including two on a first-inning double. Laura Beard provided an RBI double in a two-run third when Central (10-4) upped its lead to 4-0.

Kelly (6-2) pushed across both its runs in the top of the fourth.

Dana Essner allowed just four hits and struck out seven, but took the loss for Kelly. Kelly Essner had two of the Hawks' three hits.

GIRLS' TENNIS

Chaffee 5, Caruthers. 4

CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo. -- Chaffee won two of three doubles matches as it picked up its first dual victory of the season.

Chaffee (1-4) split the six singles matches, but saw the doubles teams of Brittney Bennett/Kate Pfefferkorn and Nicole Poe/Shannon Hampton pull out victories. Poe-Hampton won their match over Courtney Taylor/Anna Landsdale in a tie-breaker, winning 9-8 (7-1).

BOYS' SOCCER

Poplar Bluff 2, Notre Dame 1 (OT)

Poplar Bluff scored with a minute left in the first overtime to upend Notre Dame on its home field.

Notre Dame (4-2) took a 1-0 lead at the 20-minute mark of the first half when Josh Essner fed Travis Siebert for the Bulldogs' lone goal.

Poplar Bluff tied the game 20 minutes into the second half off a free kick.

Notre Dame won the junior-varsity game 1-0.

Jason Delgado scored the game's only goal midway through the second half as Notre Dame's JV improved to 3-0. Goalies Tim Frank and Brendan McNeel combined on the shutout.
