FARMINGTON, Mo. -- Central's softball team survived a bases-loaded, no-out scare in the bottom of the seventh to move into the Class 4, District 1 finals with a 3-2 win over Farmington on Saturday.

No. 1 Central scored single runs in the first, fourth and seventh innings to climb out to a 3-0 lead. Farmington, the fourth seed, started the seventh with a walk and it went downhill from there for the Tigers.

Farmington's next hitter reached on a bloop single and the next hitter reached to load the bases.

Central starter Megan McDonald allowed a single with the bases loaded as Farmington's scored its first run, and a second run scored while Central had a player in a run down. With runners on first and second and still no outs, McDonald forced two grounders to secure two outs and got her ninth strikeout to end the game.

"It's probably the biggest scare we've had all year long," Central coach Amy Blattel said. "But the positive thing for me is our kids were absolutely calm."

Farmington's two runs were the most Central has allowed in a district tournament game in three years. Central was led offensively by Tara Ford and Jamie Lester, who had two hits apiece.

The Tigers will face No. 2 Hillsboro in the finals at 5 p.m. Monday. Hillsboro beat No. 6 Poplar Bluff 2-0.

Both teams went the next nine innings without scoring. Windsor broke through in the bottom of the 11th as Allen once again provided the offense with a leadoff triple. The next batter singled to score Allen and complete the upset.
