Senior Jajuan Bell scored 22 points to lead the Tigers. Senior Shane Nolen also played well, chipping in 13 points.

The game was tight throughout with the Tigers leading by only three at halftime and by three at the end of the third.

It remained close until about 4 minutes left in the game, when Central pulled away by spreading the floor and hitting its shots.

Central also had a productive day from the free-throw line, hitting 13-of-14 attempts.

Jackson defeated Notre Dame 55-40 to earn fifth place. Central knocked off Lutheran South 72-45 for seventh place.

The Indians beat Central 50-36 on Thursday to earn a berth in Saturday's game, as Kelci Keith led the way with 20 points, including five 3-pointers, against the Tigers.

In their latest win over the Bulldogs, the Indians were led by point guard Cody Goodpasture, who scored 16 points. Ashten Howard chipped in 12 points.

The contest remained close in the first half, with Jackson leading by four points at halftime.

But the Indians were able to increase that margin with an early third-quarter run.

Jackson coach Sam Sides said his team was able to protect its lead down the stretch by hitting its free throws.

The Indians shot 73 percent from the free-throw line in the game.

Central's victory over Lutheran South was the Tigers' first win of the season, as they improved to 1-2.

Sadie Pittman and Breia Twiggs led Central with 12 points each.

Twiggs and Pittman helped the Tigers outscored Lutheran South 23-5 in the second quarter. They played well on defense by pressuring the ball.

The two forced turnovers and combined to score 13 of those 23 points.
