FARMINGTON -- Chris Cole and Nathan Gibbar both scored a pair of goals as Cape Central pummeled Farmington 10-1 Tuesday in high school soccer action. The Tigers built a 6-0 halftime lead on its way to improving to 6-9-2 on the season. Justin Shelby, Mike Pickett, Brad Bollwerk, Robbie Winschel, Trevor Blattner and Brett McNabb all had single goals. The Tigers built a 6-0 halftime lead on its way to improving to 6-9-2 on the season.

Justin Shelby, Mike Pickett, Brad Bollwerk, Robbie Winschel, Trevor Blattner and Brett McNabb all had single goals. Shelby also had two assists, while Gibbar, Winschel, McNabb, Jon Mark Thompson, Arthur Pilsner and Matt Brandt had one apiece.

Central's JV rolled to a 10-0 victory. Matt Kennard, Luke Oliver and Clint Hoffman all had two goals while Greg Bartosik, Matt Goodwin and Mick Metzger each had one.

Volleyball

Clearwater 16-15

Cape Central 14-11

Cape Central forced Clearwater to work a little extra in the opening set, but ultimately were swept by their visitors.

Jessica Balogh led Cape Central (3-12-2) offensively with five kills. Katie Cozby turned in three kills and 10 digs.

"Jessica Simms did a real good job setting," said Central coach April Morgan.

Leopold 15-15

Zalma 13-13

ZALMA -- Gwen Vandeven turned in 14 kills as Leopold swept Zalma.

Emily Broshuis and Jennifer Elfrink both finished with seven kills while Sarah Gowen had five kills and 13 assists.

Leopold improved to 12-4-1.

Leopold also won the JV contest, 15-10, 15-7.

St. Pius 15-15

St. Vincent 2-7

PERRYVILLE -- St. Pius defeated St. Vincent in straight sets in Jefferson County Conference play.

Jessica Lakenan led St. Vincent (6-11-4) with nine kills while Amie Leible had four.

St. Pius also was victorious in the JV game, winning 15-8, 15-4.

Hillsboro 14-15-15

Perryville 16-2-11

HILLSBORO -- Perryville won the opening set, but saw Hillsboro bounce back to win the Jefferson County Conference match.

Perryville fell to 10-11-2 on the season.

Nicole Blechle had four kills, six service points and eight assists for the Lady Pirates. Jamie Amberger added eight service points, while Shannon Dreyer had 10 assists and eight digs while Jennie Blevins had four service points and seven digs.

Hillsboro won the JV match, 15-13, 15-17, 15-12.
