Central golfers Tim Simmons and Jordan Sheets, and T.J. Smith of Jackson each earned a berth in the state tournament by way of a top-10 finish at the Class 4, District 1 tournament Monday at the Eagle Lake Golf Course in Farmington.
Poplar Bluff earned the automatic team berth as district champion, finishing 12 strokes ahead of runner-up Oakville. Central finished fifth and Jackson was ninth in the 10-team district.
The top team and top 10 individual scores, excluding the five team members from the winning team, advance to the state meet.
Smith shot an 80, while Simmons and Sheets each shot an 83. Poplar Bluff teammates Tyler and Trent Hillis each shot 76, as did Louis Cole of Seckman to tie for medalist honors.
Central junior Jack Connell missed out on qualifying by one stroke for the second straight year, finishing with an 84. Garrett Brown shot 93 for the Tigers.
Joe Shultz shot a 90, Brian Hill shot a 95 and A.J. Balsman shot a 99 to round out Jackson's scorers.
TRACK AND FIELDSEMO Southern meet
Chaffee finished second behind Malden in both divisions in the SEMO Southern Conference meet.
Trent Horman had the lone win for Chaffee's boys with a jump of 5 feet, 10 inches in the high jump.
Rachel Hendrix won the 800 meters for the girls in 2 minutes, 37 seconds, and Chaffee also won the 3,200 relay.

SEMO Central meet
Notre Dame dominated the distance races and ran away with the boys division at the SEMO Central Conference meet.
Logan Davis and Ben Beussink took the top spots in the 1,600, Wynn McClellan won the 3,200, John Unterreiner won the 800, Mark Zimmer won the 400 and Notre Dame won both the 1,600 and 3,200 relays.
Matt Kiblinger set the school record with a winning throw of 141 feet, 9 inches in the discus.
The Bulldogs finished second on the girls side. Jessica Banda won the 1,600 and 3,200.
