CHARLESTON -- Jackson High and Cape Central will clash Saturday night at 7 in the championship game of the Charleston Invitational.
In semifinal games Thursday, Central outlasted New Madrid County Central 49-42 and Jackson routed Notre Dame 58-30.
Central guard Kim Aslinger hit three 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 16 points as the Lady Tigers advanced to 14-4. Katie Dougherty added 10 points. Shayla Day's 16 paced the Lady Eagles.
Central trailed 30-21 at halftime before limiting New Madrid to 12 second-half points.
"It was a really disappointing first half," Central coach Darrick Smith said. "We played a lot harder in the second half."
Jackson's Chrissi Glastetter sank four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points, behind Melissa Palmer's game-high 16.
Randi Senciboy's seven points led Notre Dame.
Jackson held a 14-7 edge in the first quarter and carried a 28-13 lead into the half.
Chaffee 48, Portageville 39
CHAFFEE -- Four players scored 11 points for Chaffee, as the Lady Red Devils picked up a home win to improve to 6-9 overall.
Kate Nolen, Amy Burnett, Jodi Pfefferkorn and Jill Little each scored 11 points.
Chaffee led 16-17 at halftime, but outscored Portageville 14-7 in the final quarter to pull away.
Sikeston 48, Scott City 29
SIKESTON -- After jumping out to a 14-9 first-quarter lead, Scott City fizzled in the second period and was routed by Sikeston.
Alaina Smith's 14 points paced Scott City.
The Lady Rams slid to 9-8.
Delta 33, Woodland 30
Amanda Cook netted well over half her team's points as she finished with 19 to lead Delta to victory.
No other Lady Bobcat scored more than four points.
Desirae Bollinger led Woodland with 10 points.
Delta (8-10) led 22-12 at halftime and held on for the win.
St. Pius 72, St. Vincent 41
HILLSBORO -- St. Vincent fell to 4-14 as the Squaws were handled easily by St. Pius.
Danielle Sutterer led St. Vincent with 15 points. The Squaws trailed 15-8 after one quarter and 30-16 at halftime.
Perryville 48, Windsor 25
IMPERIAL -- Perryville remained undefeated in Jefferson County Conference play Thursday night and set up a big conference showdown in the process.
Perryville (11-8, 7-0) will play St. Pius, also unbeaten in conference play, on Monday.
The Lady Pirates led throughout against Windsor, holding a 9-7 lead after one quarter and a 23-15 advantage at halftime. The lead grew to double figures in the third quarter.
Jamie Amberger led Perryville with 11 points.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Notre Dame 63, Fredericktown 44
FREDERICKTOWN -- Notre Dame's defensive effort helped the Bulldogs to a victory over Fredericktown.
Notre Dame (6-11) outscored Fredericktown in each quarter, amassing an 18-13 lead after one quarter and a 27-21 edge at the break.
"We played very well tonight," Notre Dame coach Chris Janet said. "The kids recognized their zone defense well. And we had a nice effort on defense."
Michael Wehner led Notre Dame with 15 points and John O'Rourke added 12.
Jackson 77, Farmington 66
FARMINGTON -- Jackson guard Doug Cary hit five 3-pointers and finished with 22 points as the Indians topped Farmington.
Justin Suedmeyer sank 8 of 8 free throws in the fourth quarter and Levi Bollinger 4 of 4 as Jackson improved to 14-6. The Indians made 23 of 26 free throws for the game.
Jackson led 18-15 after one quarter and 35-21 at halftime. "I thought we played really well in the first half," Jackson coach Steve Burk said.
John Oehl had 17 points, Suedmeyer 13, Cory Daniel 11 and Bollinger 10.
