Central's baseball team fell to 0-3 at the Southaven, Miss., Tournament with a pair of losses on Friday.
The Tigers (1-3) allowed six runs over the final two innings in a 7-2 loss to Madison Central (Miss.), a team ranked third in the state with a 17-0 record. In its second game of the day, Central dropped an 11-1 decision to Oxford (Miss.). Oxford improved to 14-3 and is ranked fourth in the state.
Tyler Bruce picked up the loss against Madison, allowing four runs, three earned, in 5 2/3 innings. Bruce allowed six hits, struck out two and walked three. Zac Hudson had a pair of hits in the loss. Central led 2-1 heading into the sixth inning, but allowed three runs apiece in the sixth and seventh innings.
Against Oxford, Lance Young allowed seven runs, ony three earned, in four innings of work. Young allowed six hits, struck out three and walked five.
The Tigers will play two more Mississippi teams today. Central will face Horn Lake at 11 a.m. and South Penola at 4 p.m.
