The Central doubles team of David Berry and Patrick Duffy went 0-2 at the state tournament in Springfield on Friday, ending their season.
Berry and Duffy, both juniors, fell to the team of Jay Kinderknecht and Stefan Nosic of Rock Bridge 6-1, 6-3 in the opening round. In consolation play, Berry and Duffy fell to Doug Brightfield and Patrick Kella of DeSmet 6-2, 6-2.
The Tigers won their district this season before falling to DeSmet in the sectional round. Berry and Duffy were the first Central boys tennis players to make it to state since 2003.
