The Central boys soccer team lost 7-0 at St. Louis powerhouse DeSmet on Saturday.

The Tigers fell behind 5-0 at half. DeSmet added a goal on a penalty kick 30 seconds into the second half and scored off a corner kick with 3 seconds to go.

"They had the best player I've seen all year in junior forward Will Bruin," Central coach Tom Doyle said.

JV -- Central lost 7-0.

BOYS SWIMMING Lindbergh Invitational

Central coach Dayna Powell was impressed with her team's performance at Lindbergh.

"Unbelievable," she said. "It was a great meet for us. I knew they were ready to swim, but not this fast."

Central finished eighth among many St. Louis powerhouses. The Tigers had 164 points. Lindbergh won the meet with 416.

Jake Meyer had two state cuts, while Peyton Waggener and Hunter Givens each had a state cut.

Powell hopes to pick up two relay state cuts in a home meet Tuesday.

200-meter freestyle -- 3, Jake Meyer 1:53.24, 6, Peyton Waggener 1:54.51.

200 individual medley -- 5, Sam Gramling 2:13.74.

50 freestyle -- 4, Hunter Givens 23.43.

100 butterfly -- 3, Givens 57.55.

500 freestyle -- 4, Gramling 5:06, 5, Meyer 5:07.24, 6, Waggener 5:10.24.

200 freestyle relay -- 8, Central (Givens, Meyer, Gramling, Waggener) 1:37.60.
