MILLINGTON, Tenn. -- Cape Central High's baseball team finally broke loose during the rugged USA Classic Tournament.

The Tigers, who dropped their first two tourney games, blasted Millington (Tenn.) 18-2 Friday in a contest that was stopped after five innings by the 10-run rule.

Central, now 2-2 on the season, will conclude tournament play at noon today against Horn Lake, Miss. That game will decide 13th place in the 16-team event.

The Tigers banged out 20 hits and scored 15 runs in the first two innings to breeze Friday.

Tatum Kitchen, Ross Bennett and Shane Gibson all had three hits while Chris Pobst, Andy Sweet, Chris Bradshaw and Greg Craft added two hits apiece.

Bradshaw belted a two-run homer, Bennett doubled and tripled and Kitchen drove in four runs.

Kitchen was the winning pitcher. He improved to 2-0 by striking out 10 and allowing just one hit over the full five innings.
