ST. LOUIS -- Cape Central fell to 4-7 on the season with a 17-3 loss in five innings to Christian Brothers College Friday.
Starting pitcher Travis Klipfel was tagged with the loss. He went 1 2/3 innings and allowed 10 runs (eight earned) on 10 hits. Klipfel did not walk or strike out a batter.
Central managed just five hits.
Mike Sullivan went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Central will host Sikeston in a makeup game at 4 p.m. Monday at the high school field.
St. Vincent 2, Perryville 1
PERRYVILLE -- Perryville's Ryan Tweedy took a no-hitter into the seventh inning, but St. Vincent (5-3, 2-2 Jefferson County Conference) scored once in the seventh and again in the ninth to win.
Perryville took a 1-0 lead on Wade Weibrecht's home run in the second. Then in the seventh, St. Vincent's Bryan Meyer was hit by a pitch and later scored on a pinch-hit single by freshman Adam Bockman.
In the ninth, Meyer singled, went to second on a sacrifice and scored on an infield throwing error.
Trent Sauer went two scoreless innings and got the win after Derek Kutz had gone seven innings and allowed one run.
In nine innings, Tweedy permitted four hits and struck out five.
Kelly 24, Scott Central 1
MORLEY -- Freshman Adam Daughetee struck out 10 and pinned Scott Central to just one hit while Kelly's offense exploded for a four-inning romp.
Justin Simpher went 3-for-3 with five RBIs for Kelly (5-1-1).
Brooks Heuring went 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs, Barry Zigler went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and freshman Tyler Schlosser also provided three RBIs.
Oran 12, Charleston 0
CHARLESTON -- Oran led 10-0 after three innings and coasted to a five-inning victory.
Dustin Glastetter (3-0) allowed just two hits, striking out nine and walking four.
Dustin Dannenmueller had three hits and four RBIs in the Eagles' 11-hit attack. Adam Friga and Billy Loper each added two hits and two RBIs.
Oran (5-1) scored one run in the first, five in the second and four in the third for a 10-0 advantage.
Leopold 7, Meadow Heights 0
LEOPOLD -- Jason Vandeven struck out 16 and permitted three hits in seven shutout innings as Leopold (2-2) topped Meadow Heights.
Lee VanderMierden had two hits and three RBIs and Vandeven added a hit and three RBIs.
Softball
Advance 18, Dexter 7
DEXTER -- Five Advance players had two hits apiece as the Class 1A school downed 3A Dexter in a Stoddard County Conference game.
Jennifer Phelps, Amanda Bond, Ashley Hitt, Amber Bond and Shanna Winchester each had two hits.
Amber Bond and Winchester each tripled and Amanda Bond had a double.
Hitt (3-0) was the winning pitcher. She went the distance, allowing seven runs on four hits and three walks. She struck out four.
Advance scored in every inning but the fourth.
Leopold 17, Meadow Heights 7
LEOPOLD -- Nikki Seiler went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs as Leopold defeated Meadow Heights. Leopold moved to 1-1.
Iris Elfrink went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and stole two bases. Lisa Peters got the win, allowing 12 hits in six innings.
Swimming
Cape Central girls win triangular
ST. LOUIS -- Cape Central took first in all 12 events in a swim meet against Lutheran South and Incarnate Word Friday.
Central tallied 152 points followed by Lutheran South (93) and Incarnate Word (84).
Grace Freeman, who took first in the 50 freestyle and was part of two first-place relay teams, posted a state-qualifying time of 5:41.05 in her first-place finish in the 500 freestyle.
Mary Beth Owen took first in the 200 individual medley and 100 freestyle. She also helped two relay teams to first-place finishes.
