~ A former trainer at Missouri, he also worked at Texas A&M.
Alfred Castillo, assistant trainer and associate head football trainer at the University of Missouri for the past five years, has been hired as head athletic trainer at Southeast Missouri State.
Castillo replaces Rob Hunt, who recently resigned to take a job as head football trainer at Oklahoma State University.
"Alfred Castillo is a very qualified trainer with a wealth of great experience," Southeast athletic director Don Kaverman said in a news release from the university. "We hated to lose Rob Hunt, but Castillo will be able to step in and keep our sports medicine area operating at a high level."
Castillo also has two years experience as an assistant trainer at Texas A&M. He is a graduate of Texas-Pan American with a master of science degree from Texas A&M.
Castillo, who assumed his duties Tuesday, will be assisted at Southeast by two full-time assistant trainers, Scott Parker and Amanda Martin. The university has four graduate assistant trainers.
