Caruthersville reinstated to Bootheel Athletic Conference

Caruthersville School District will rejoin the Bootheel Athletic Conference (BAC) effective immediately, following a suspension earlier this school year.

In December 2023, the BAC voted to suspend Caruthersville in response to safety concerns raised at certain athletic events. To address these concerns and facilitate reinstatement, Caruthersville has agreed to implement a detailed safety plan specifically for boys' basketball games.

"The members of the BAC are pleased that the agreement reached with Caruthersville makes providing a safe environment for students, staff and fans a central focus," the conference stated in a press release. "Safety for players and fans is imperative to the BAC members, and we are confident that Caruthersville's new safety plan will contribute significantly to achieving that goal."

Caruthersville is now eligible to participate in the upcoming BAC tournament, scheduled to begin Saturday at Malden High School.
