PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- St. Louis starter Matt Morris was hit hard in his first spring start, giving up nine runs on nine hits in 1 2-3 innings and the New York Mets beat the Cardinals 10-6 Friday night.

Roger Cedeno opened the bottom of the first with a double, and scored on Mike Piazza's single. Cliff Floyd followed with a single and Mike Cameron doubled in a run, before Todd Zeile added a two-run single to right field.

New York added six more runs in the second inning, paced by Jose Reyes' triple to right and Ty Wigginton's double to left field to take a 10-0 lead.

Mets starter Al Leiter got out of a bases-loaded jam in the first inning by getting John Mabry to ground out to first base. Leiter didn't allow a run in two innings.

The left-hander, slated to start New York's third game of the season in Atlanta, allowed two hits while striking out two and walking one.

Cedeno and Cameron were both 2-for-3 with a double, and Wigginton had three RBIs.

Expos 6, Cardinals 4VIERA, Fla. -- Jamey Carroll snapped a 3-3 tie with an RBI double in the fourth inning and the Montreal Expos went on to a 6-4 win against a St. Louis Cardinals split squad Friday.

Carl Everett went 0-for-2 with a walk in his Expos debut, and St. Louis jumped on starter Zach Day early for two runs on four hits and a walk in the top of the first inning.

The Expos grabbed a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the second off Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright. Nick Johnson doubled, Orlando Cabrera singled, Tony Batista hit a sacrifice fly and a Peter Bergeron had a two-run double.

Wainwright went two innings, giving up three runs on three hits with three walks.

Luis Lopez had a two-run double in the sixth inning to stretch the Expos' lead to 6-3.
