PITTSBURGH -- The St. Louis Cardinals placed left-handed relief pitcher Steve Kline on the 15-day disabled list with a groin injury on Saturday.

Kline, who pitched the eighth inning of Friday's 8-5 win over Pittsburgh, was injured when he ran to cover first base on a bunt by Tike Redman.

Kline (2-2) has a 1.86 earned run average with three saves in 63 appearances.

Also, the Cardinals purchased the contract of left-handed reliever Randy Flores from Triple-A Memphis.

Flores was 5-7 with a 3.82 ERA and two saves for Memphis. He appeared in 28 games with Texas and Colorado in 2002 and was a nonroster invitee to the Cardinals' spring training camp this year.
