Trent Summers doubled home two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning as Cape Senior Babe Ruth rallied for a 10-9 victory over Paducah Junior Legion Friday night.
The hit was the third of the night for Summers and made a winner out of White Sox pitcher Chris Canfield, who went the distance. Canfield struck out four, walked two and gave up eight hits.
Chris Pobst also had three hits for the White Sox (10-8), who had 12 overall.
The White Sox return to action today with two games in the Paducah Tournament. Cape will open with Sikeston and will also play Alton, Ill.
Jackson Babe Ruth sweeps
Jackson Senior Babe Ruth swept East Prairie in a doubleheader Thursday and saw pitcher Christopher Leimer notch both victories.
Jackson (13-4 overall, 9-1 league) won the opener 9-8 and prevailed in the nightcap 8-1.
Leimer got the win in the opener in relief of Josh Adams. Adam Click and Adams each had two hits. Click collected three RBI while Ryan Harper knocked in two runs. Derek Johnston added a triple and two RBI.
Leimer struck out 11 batters in the second game.
Harper, Johnston and John Schlick each had two hits in the game, including two doubles by Harper and Schlick.
