Ford & Sons Cape Girardeau American Legion baseball team swept a pair of games from visiting Mayfield (Ky.) on Thursday.

Cape won the opener 7-6 behind the complete-game pitching of Steven Houseman, then collected a 13-3, five-inning victory in the nightcap.

Garrett Stevens went 3-for-4 in the opener, including a pair of doubles. Houseman added a two hits as Cape had 10 overall.

Houseman allowed 13 hits, struck out seven and walked three in seven innings.

Josh Compas had a double and a triple in the second game as he went 3-for-4. Shawn Prince, Stevens and Ryan Grigaitis each had two hits. Stevens and Zach Plott each had a triple among their hits. Cape had 13 hits.

Winning pitcher Justin Myers allowed six hits, struck out six and walked five in five innings.
